Disaster Kit, Typhoon Locker, Hurricane Closet...call it what
you will, but assemble it right away.
This is no time to say "This will never
happen to me!" Believe me, "this" has happened many times and will happen
again. Assemble your kit and keep track of where you store everything - in a
disaster, you may panic and forget. When a disaster threatens, lines at the
stores will be long, and tempers will be short. Keep duplicates of items that
you would need in case of evacuation in your easily-accessible go-bag (a large
trash container, plastic storage bin, waterproof duffel bag, or backpack - one
per family member). Everything else can stay in its normal place, as long as you
have an inventory posted inside a cabinet door with the location of each item.

Note that we do not store all of the items listed on these pages -
you should decide for yourself what you will need in your own situations. Note
also that we do not keep all these items together in a storage container,
although many agencies recommend that you keep your kit intact and away from
your dwelling - we keep them in their logical locations within our home.

---- Remember, in many emergencies, your computer will be inaccessible, so a hard copy of any Paradise Organized chapters you find especially helpful is
a good thing to have on hand! ----
