Even though you have planned and practiced for whatever disaster may
come your way...
You have to consider that you may not be home when a disaster strikes, or you
may not be able to get home immediately afterwards. You could be stranded on
the road for any number of reasons, or have to evacuate your home and have
nowhere to go. You should have a small kit in your car - again, planning to
live in or around your car for up to 3 days.
Your kit should include:
-
Store everything in a
sturdy backpack in the car:
-
Crow bar (in reach of
driver)
-
Hunting knife
-
Swiss Army knife (or
equivalent)
-
Small shovel
- Waterproof
flashlight with krypton or LED bulb with 2 sets of batteries & light bulb
- Cyalume
light sticks
- Butane
lighter
- Waterproof/windproof
matches
- Candle
in a deep can
- Warning
light or road flares
- Tow
rope and jumper cables
- Roadmaps
-
Fire extinguisher
-
Heavy poncho
- Thermal
blanket
- Tarp
- Medical
kit
- Surgical
gloves
-
2 gallon water per person
-
72-hour supply of food
- List
of contact numbers
- Toilet
paper
- Pre-moistened
towelettes
- Hard
hat and safety goggles
- Dust/mist
respirators, disposable (10 per person)

a good thing to have on hand! ----
