Most recommended documentation can be kept in your household planner, ready to grab if you need to leave the house in a hurry.

Minimum items include:

• Emergency Notebook/Planner - containing emergency contact info, financial data, etc.
• Paper and pencil (a clipboard with emergency info about your family would be an ideal for rescue workers if your family leaves your home - see a sample here)

• Map of the area- - for evacuation routes, and to avoid rivers and streams
• Notebook  (waterproof if possible) and space pen or 2 pencils
• Permanent marker
• List of phone numbers
• Prepaid calling card
• Go-Card for cell phone
• Extra set of keys

• Homeowners insurance policy and agent info in a zip-lock bag
• Life insurance policies and agent info
• Car insurance policies and agent info
• Copies of deeds, titles and home inventory
• Proof of residence (driver's license should work) - to get back home
• Copies of medical insurance cards
• Survival manual
