You should keep a robe or other acceptable outerwear and sturdy slippers at your bedside, in case you have to leave your house in the middle of the night.
You wouldn't want your neighbors to see you in your birthday suit, would you?
And, although it is not a problem in the islands, if you live in a cold climate you must account for that
as well.

Rain gear (poncho)

Bandannas - they are
amazing multitaskers! Use as hats, scarves, napkins, bandages, placemats,
etc.

Hard hat

Safety goggles
-
Dust/mist respirators,
disposable (at least 20 per person) -
HEPA face masks would be good in case of air contamination. Be sure
they can be adjusted for children to be snug-fitting

Sturdy shoes -
preferably boots
-
Sturdy work gloves -
for everyone in the household, for clean-up and repairs
-
Complete change of
clothing for each person

Include several
t-shirts - they can be used as hats, pillows, dust filters
You may have to leave your home if the structure is damaged. If you cannot get to a shelter, or if you
simply do not want to leave your home, you can set a tent in your yard until your home is safe to enter. For this reason, many people suggest that you keep your typhoon kit in a location outside the structure of your home.

- Sleeping bags and pads
- Tent (big enough for your family and your supply kit)
- Ground cloth for the tent
- Emergency heat reflective "space" blankets
- Tarps - at least 2
