Halloween Party Games:

You should always plan some activities for your party - you don't want anyone to go home bored at Halloween! Don't force the games on your guests (except for the "Who Am I?" game - your guests will get hit with that one when they walk in the door!). Following are a few games that are appropriate for adults, and are easy to setup.

Bobbing for Apples:

One of the oldest traditional Halloween games. The difficulty of the game depends on the size of the tub and apples. (For children, make the apples smaller and the tub shallower.) A softer apple is easier to bit into. Pick off the stems before dropping into the water and have towels and paper towels on hand for afterwards. Have an award for the first one to retrieve an apple, for specially marked apples, and all of those who successfully fetch an apple.

Make a Halloween Scene:
The object is for teams to make the scariest scene possible with the given items. Take two plastic skeletons apart (keep each one separate) and have a prop box for each. Add to each box: old clothes, plastic skeletons, dolls, body parts, Halloween make-up, fake blood, fake knives, fake hatchets, costumes & wigs, grease paint, etc. Add anything that will help your teams make a scary scene. Divide your guests into two teams. Set a time limit, let the teams go and start timing.

Mystery Boxes:
Have lidded boxes with a different spooky item in each one.  Decorate the boxes with special effects, spider webs etc.  Put in the boxes:  bones (fresh carrots or use well cleaned chicken bones; brains ( tofu- round off the edges, or spaghetti); eyeballs (Peeled grapes or oiled olives); fingers (hot dogs or cheese sticks); hair (cut from an old doll, an old wig or saved silk from corn on the cob); a hand (Fill a latex surgical glove with water, drape it over a bowl to give it some shape and freeze it. Just before the party, stick it in a tray of dirt, sand, or rice so your guests has to feel around in the dirt for the "buried hand"); Ears (dried apricots); intestines ((wet cold spaghetti); liver (canned peach half); skin (an oiled soft flour tortilla); teeth (unpopped popcorn)

Pumpkin Bocce:
Carve out a large pumpkin. Buy several miniature pumpkins. Place the big pumpkin several feet away. Each player rolls (No tossing or throwing) a small pumpkin - the object is to roll yours the closest to the big pumpkin. The player closest wins.

Pumpkin Ring Toss:
Carve out a pumpkin. Buy or make three or four rings about twice as big around as the pumpkins. Have players stand several feet back (depending on ages), aiming to ring the pumpkin.

Scared Stiff:
Like musical chairs, but instead of sitting down when the music stops, players must freeze. The first person to move is 'killed'; the winner is the last warm body standing.

Who Am I?:
An ice-breaking, get to know you game for all ages. Before the Party, print neatly the name of a person or Character associated with Halloween onto a 3x5 card. The possibilities are endless. Use a different name on each card. Make up enough cards for more than each person invited to the party, especially for kids. This can be such a fun game that people want to play it more than once. Upon arriving, use a safety pin to put one card on each guests' back. Do not tell them who is on the card. Each person asks questions of the other guests to find out who he/she is. You can ask only one question of a guest, before moving to another guest to ask a question. Only "Yes" and "No" answers can be given. Look for questions which will quickly narrow the quest such as: Am I a male(or female)? Am I a real person(versus fictional character)? If a guest guesses too quickly, give them another tag and make them start over.
