Welcome to How to Move Anywhere - the most comprehensive collection of moving tips & how-to's you'll find on the web.

Survive a Move

I consider myself somewhat of a moving expert, as I have moved more than 20 times in my life, including four overseas moves.  Although I was pretty young for some of them, I've accumulated a plethora of hints and tips that I am happy to be able to share here with you.  Included here will be my lists for any kind of move, as well as spaces for you to create your own.  My obsession for list-making actually proved to be a blessing during these moves.

The very instant that you have the slightest idea you will be moving, it's time to start planning. I always set up some kind of notebook - in the old days I used spiral notebooks and made my own tabbed sections, but today I redesign a personal planner for the purpose. I'm going to show you how to set up your own customized planner.  Planner Sections.

Start writing down everything that pops into your head - notes from your office regarding moving, people you will need to notify, ideas for searching the web about your future  location. You can organize those later. Moving is undeniably one of the most stressful things you have to face in your life.  There is so much to do, in a specific amount of time.  So much can go wrong.  You have so many people to deal with, and they're not always going to be acting in your best interest.  If you have to keep working during the process, it's worse.  If you have young children, it's worse still. With a little planning, however, you can sail through the process with a minimum of stress.  The move can take several weeks or months, but you'll be armed with a tool to keep you on top of everything: your moving planner. I'm going to show you how to set up your own customized planner.  Having moved more than 20 times in my life (four of them were overseas moves), I've accumulated a plethora of hints and tips.  Included here will be my lists for any kind of move, as well as spaces for you to create your own.

Your move is what you make of it.
