One of the first things you'll do is determine the type of move you're going to
have.
If it's a corporate move, arrangements will be made by your
employer. The same is true for a military move, although you may have the option
of moving yourself. If you were the ones who made the decision to
move, you have several options:
TYPES OF MOVER SERVICES:
-
FULL-SERVICE MOVE?
Movers do all the servicing, packing & transporting. This is obviously the
most expensive route, but if you're lucky your employer will pay for it.
You have to deal with several people going through your home and your
belongings, but your things will be packed properly and with proper packing
materials. It's also the easiest on your back!
-
YOU PACK/MOVERS TRANSPORT?
(PICK-UP & DELIVERY SERVICE, SELF-SERVICE MOVERS)?
You'll do your own servicing and packing, and the moving service will pick
everything up and transport it for you. The price is based on the space and
weight of your household goods and the distance of the move.
-
DO-IT-YOURSELF MOVE? -
You do it all yourself: packing, transporting,
unpacking. Obviously, this is the cheapest way to go, but it's a lot of
work. You should be sure that you have the time to devote to it.

TYPES OF MOVES:
I have always found this to be absolutely the
easiest and least stressful move. If you are fortunate enough to be able
to overlap your residences for, say, a week you can transport your
belongings at your leisure, get your new home set up before you move in,
and forego that hectic
“move-everything-at-once-whether-you're-ready-or-not” day! Even if it has to
be done in one day, you will know your area ahead of time, and getting
services set up is a snap.
