Many flights out of Guam leave at 6:00 am or earlier, which means now that you have to arrive at the airport around 4:00 am, unless you are able to check your bags the night before.  Ouch!  The more you have done ahead, the better.  And, unless you want to come home to a pot of moldy coffee grinds, skip the coffee - you can get a cup at the airport once you get through security.

• Empty and clean the coffee pot
• Empty and clean the tea kettle
• Water your plants. Remove them from direct sunlight and, unless someone will water them, wrap them in a plastic bag
• Recharge your cameras, PDA, iPod, laptop
• Clean your camera's memory cards for new photographs
• Synch your PDA or iPod
• Back up your PC in case something goes wrong while you're gone
• Pay bills
• Pack, noting last-minute items. Weigh each bag
• Tie matching ribbons around the handles of all luggage, including carry-on bags (we've had several connecting flights where we had to check our carry-on bags), or use colored luggage straps
• Empty perishables from the refrigerator (and fruit baskets); turn the thermostat up
• Do your weekly cleaning
• Empty the trash and take it away
• Change out the BBQ drip pan
• Change your sheets (you won't feel like it at 2:30 am tomorrow and won't have time to wash the dirty ones)
• Set up a trash can for pet-sitter to put kitty litter in
• Close up and lock storage rooms, utility closets, outdoor closets, etc.
• Freeze some bags and/or bottles of water - it'll help keep the freezer cold longer if the power goes out
• Reconfirm your flight and seat assignments
• Unplug your PC, water heater, and most electrical items.
• If you're flying with Continental out of Guam, you can check your luggage the night before an early flight. It makes so much difference the next morning! Otherwise, you can check in online with most airlines 24 hours or more in advance, and pick your seats with most.
